Jigsaw Instructions

Javasaw is a fun puzzle written in Java with six selectable levels of difficulty and a choice of images to choose from. (Thanks to Javasaw for the jigsaw script.)

Skill Levels:

  1. Simple: 9 single-sided pieces, unique sizes.
  2. Easy: 20 single-sided pieces, unique sizes.
  3. Moderate: 36 single-sided pieces, similar sizes.
  4. Harder: 36 double-sided pieces, random sizes.
  5. Difficult: 56 double-sided pieces, similar sizes.
  6. Most Difficult: 56 double-sided rotatable pieces, similar sizes. The Challenge! Images flip and rotate. (Use right-mouse click to flip .. and tab key or arrow keys to rotate (PC ... not sure about Mac.)

Tips:

  • The pieces will 'snap' onto the grid if you release them close enough to a cell of exactly the same size. This is not necessarily the correct position. In the harder versions most pieces are the same size and so can interchange more readily, making it harder to solve.

  • Press the 'Cheat' button to see how the completed jigsaw should look. Pressing the C key will also bring up the 'cheat' window.

  • If the puzzle is 'double sided' you can reverse the completed view by clicking on it. Pressing the Escape key will close the 'cheat' window.

  • Use right-mouse click to flip double-sided pieces.

  • Use tab key or arrow keys to turn rotatable pieces (In 'Most Difficult' level)

  • Press the 'Pause' button to pause the elapsed timer so that you can interrupt your puzzle solving. The playing area will be blanked out so that you can't study the puzzle while paused. The label of the button changes to 'Continue'. Simply press it to continue solving the puzzle.

  • Enjoy!
